5 July 2010 in Coffee, Coffee and Health

While sitting in the Doc’s waiting room – I found this very interesting article in the magazine “Health Smart” February-March 2010 issue.
The information to me – show that the Health Effects of Caffeine and there maybe even benefits in drinking some caffeine in moderate doses – be sure to mix it up with quality coffee and tea.

Health Smart magazine write and as Titled “CAFFEINE”:-
“Many assume that decaffeinated coffee and tea are somehow healthier – there have been suggested links between caffeine and palpitations, osteoporosis and pancreatic cancer. But there’s a growing list of ways that caffeine might actually be good for us.”

“Several studies have flagged caffeine – not coffee itself – as combatting or delaying the development of Parkinson’s disease (PD) in men. Dr George Melick, a Parkinson’s expert from Griffith University in Queensland, Australia, says caffeine sets off changes in the brain that boost the production of neurotransmitters, including gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), dopamine and glutamate – important in controlling PD symptoms.”

“Caffeine may also protect us from environmental toxins that could increase the risk of PD, he says.”

“Other studies have suggested that caffeine can help prevent gallstones and dramatically cut the risk of common liver cancer. And new research from the University painkiller, lessening the aches of exercise. Says Robert Motl, a professor of kinesiology and author of the study , “If we could give people a little caffeine and reduce their pain, they may stick at exercise.”

Health Smart also say:-
“BUT WATCH OUT!” ” Caffeine could be harmful if you have diabetes or hypertension. The National Heart Foundation if Australia advises that anyone with a heart problem should limit their caffeinated drinks – coffee, tea cola – to no more than 2 cups per a day.”

“For those at risk of osteoporosis, avoid cola and add a t least two tablespoons of milk to each cup of coffee. That’s enough to offset the calcium lost.”

So this article, shows us that there’s some good Health Effects of Caffeine in our diets

  1. caffeine,as you say might be good for people who doesn’t have hypertension ,diabetics.but there are more chances of side effects of it rather than just to reduce pain by consuming caffeine…
there off course must be some alternative towards removing environmental toxins from our body….
